Dr. Jackie Ogega is a world class leader, storyteller, social scientist, and advocate
Dr. Jackie Ogega is an inspiring leader in development, humanitarian relief, peacebuilding, education, and research. She has directed numerous multi-million-dollar international development programs in many countries across the world. Jackie taught high school for eight years before becoming a development and peacebuilding humanitarian worker. She has served as a U.S. Diplomat as the Senior Advisor and Team Lead for violence prevention and response at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) based in Washington D.C. She has led numerous international development and humanitarian response efforts at World Vision, Creative Associates, CRS, Religions for Peace, and Caritas. She founded a community-based organization, Mpanzi Empowering Women and Girls, which supports hundreds of women and girls in villages in Kenya to promote education, violence prevention, and livelihoods. She has taught development studies at various universities and institutions of higher learning. She has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Peace Studies, a Master’s Degree in Gender and Development Studies, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Research Methods in the Social Sciences, and a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She is the author of Women, Religion, & Peacebuilding (Palgrave Macmillan and Springer International) and Home Is Us (a memoir).
A survivor of violence and poverty, Dr. Jackie Ogega actively leads efforts to eliminate violence and end poverty. She has travelled to over 55 countries, where she has facilitated training, shared her story, conducted research, provided technical assistance, given key-note speeches, documented promising practices, carried out assessments and analyses, or monitored projects for impact. She is a thoughtful and inspiring leader, speaker, trainer, mentor, and coach.
